Beauty Seen

We are searching for a rhythm,
that will do justice to this work.
South Africa has a Beauty Queen.

Eyes blink open. Eyes wide shut.
Eyes forward, eyes on-the-prize.
All lies open and shutting your eyes.

Are we seeing what beauty is yet?
Senzeni seen, Senzeni Scene.
See Senzeni and Senzeni is seen.

Beauty has a name this day, Senzeni.
Our Queen, has an open face to talk.
In the quiet, closed black world of Dolls.

So ask again, what is Beauty seen?
Eyes shut so tight, fight for the right
to be seen in the Scene. Bright Light.

Senzeni is softly breaking into the Art
seen. Making her debut inner heart-beat,
beating and rattling, rite up to the top.

The voice of reason, seems frightened,
fearful she may fail, in the seen and 
never seen, World of Guys and Dolls.

Drum her a beat, that makes some
kind of sense to steady her might.
Showing all that is clean and unseen.

Size Zero, up to our necks in legs.
Tits and arse and comments left.
Charcoal Dolls; wiping eyes; weep.

CRASHING INTO NOTHING

I am crashing down around my feet. 
Falling, falling down to the earth 
without a parachute and diving into 
a pool of my own tears. The shame of 
me is unbearable to see; as all the hard 
words and long hours of thinking amounts 
to nothing, as I am pen-full but powerless. 

I am not breaking down, I am broken...
and in many pieces. I am not the broken 
wine bottle that fell from your dinning table. 
I am the wine spilt all over your magnificent marble floor. 
The mess that you need to mop up; to make 
our house a home again; of course you could just 
leave the stain as it is...and never mop the mess....
leaving it as that funny African-shaped stain 
on your blue-veined white marble floors.

Art Pension Scheme


Synopsis  |  African Artists Pension Fund

Here is an Investment Programme that could be developed by a Bank or an Commercial Corporation for African Artists.

The African Artist Pension Fund (AAPF) is an investment program dedicated to the needs of emerging and mid-career artists from Africa. The African Pension Fund is linked with the Investment Bankers, whose long-term financial planning services will allow the artists from Africa to invest their artworks alongside a community of select African artists, thereby providing a uniquely diversified, alternative income stream.

The vision will be realised with the assistance of Virgin, to build an integrated financial services firm that caters to the financial needs of the African artists. The collateralisation of artworks is the basis for a range of financing products.

 Benefits of Creating a Pension Fund

AAPF provides each participating artist with distinct benefits:

- The opportunity to realize long-term appreciation of his/her artworks over a period of at least 20 years
- The opportunity to share in the commercial success of other carefully selected artists
- High standards of professional care for their invested artwork
- Facilitating the loan of artworks for selected exhibitions worldwide

How It Works

AAPF is a long-term Investment Planning program. Rather than cash, participants invest works of art, accumulating 20 artworks over a 20-year period. Ideally, the 20 works by each artist should comprise a representative collection of that artist’s production over that period of time. Most importantly, the artist remains the sole owner of his/her artworks until the work is sold.

A region-specific Curatorial Committee comprised of individuals who are highly experienced and regarded in the field of contemporary art review and select artists for participation in the programme.

Following the invitation to participate in the programme, the artist and AAPF signs the Artist Participation Agreement. Within the first 6 months and annually thereafter, the artist is required to propose artworks for consideration by the AAPF Director. AAPF will carefully store these artworks until the time at which each work is sold. During this holding period works are made available for exhibition at museums, galleries and other pre-approved venues.

When artworks are sold, each artist receives forty percent (40) of the net proceeds of the sale of his/her work. Thirty-two (32) percent of net proceeds accrue to the collective benefit of all participating artists in the specific AAPF. This allows each participating artist to collectively participate in the commercial success of the other selected artists. The remaining twenty-eight (28) percent of the net proceeds are retained by AAPF to cover all management and operating costs.

Distribution and Sale

The artist remains the sole owner of his/her artworks until AAPF decides to sell the work.

Artists are expected to invest artworks according to the following schedule: two works a year for the first five years; one work a year for the following five years, and one work every two years for the remaining ten years; for a total of twenty works.
Upon acceptance of a work, AAPF will issue to each artist an Acceptance Receipt representing the right to forty (40) percent of the net proceeds derived from such artwork and a Participating Interest represented by Pool Units. The Pool Units represent the right to a pro rata interest along with the other artists in the thirty-two (32) percent of the net proceeds from any sale of artworks.

The sale of artworks will be carefully managed by an independent selling committee in order to maximize the monetary value from each sale and to ensure that the sale is in the best long-term interest of the artist. The circumstances of a sale will be carefully considered to avoid any adverse market impact.

Whenever possible, AAPF will work with each artist's primary gallery when offering the works for sale. AAPF will also sell the works through the selective use of private treaty sales, auctions and secondary market dealers when appropriate.

AAPF is designed to work in tandem with the existing art market structure and dynamics. Its success will be driven by a confluence of interests among the participating artists, dealers and the AAPF management to generate maximum returns.

What Is Needed

Curatorial Committee

We need to create a world-class team of art professionals each with significant experience in identifying and supporting the careers of emerging and mid-career African artists to ensure the quality of the artists selected to participate in the African Artist Pension Fund.

Curatorial Services / AAPF Lending Program

Curatorial Services and a Lending program means that AAPF will be able to offer curators, museums and other art exhibition programs full access to the extensive artwork collection by the Fund artists. Whilst the artwork on deposit with AAPF, all of the artworks in the storage facilities should be made available to art professionals for viewing, academic scholarship and curatorial projects.

Management and Advisors

African Artist Pension Fund (AAPF) will be the first and only investment planning product, dedicated and tailored to the needs of emerging and mid-career African artists. AAPF should be unique, as it will allow participating African artists to invest in their own commercial future as well as that of other selected artists.

Executive Management


What is needed is to create a strong foundation by appointing an Executive Management Team:

  • CEO & President
  • Chairman AAPF Curatorial Committee
  • Managing Director, African Operations
  • Managing Director, International Operations


The Advisory Board

The Advisory Board of African Artist Pension Fund should comprise of leading professionals from the worlds of finance and art, including leading artists. They should be drawn together to provide continuous access to multiple perspectives and a broad range of expertise to ensure the long-term success of AAPF.


Board Directors

AAPF will have to assemble an extremely experienced Board of Directors that supervises the activities and direction of the Company. The corporate governance practices should meet the highest standards to ensure transparency, independence and sustainability.


The African Artists
African Artist Pension Fund will invite artists to apply in order to be considered for participation in pension scheme. Participating artists will be chosen by the AAPF Curatorial Committee. The members need to be deeply experienced in identifying emerging and mid-career artists. The Curatorial Committee retains final control over the inclusion of all applicants.

We can work for diamonds and pearls but get real....at the end of the day we'll be lucky to be alive. Great Artists starve, the others are too busy selling themselves and all those around them, too busy selling and spending to be creative....

As an artist you must strip yourself naked in order to push yourself forward. It is immaterial what others think of your work or your words and opinions you hold. So those viewing my posts must think why would he be saying such terrible stuff about himself. Painting for drugs, writing for Scottish hookers and spitting at people on Facebook, where am I coming from? I want to belong to those that have given up the disguise or the front that other people erect about themselves and pull back the mask and think what would I do if I were paid? Probably do plenty of drugs and get laid...so in a way my inability to sell or raise funds has inadvertently saved me. My failure is my success.

Then the human aspect of art or writing. Why would he be saying he pissed his pants or wet the bed or farted in the bath. I want to link my words to the rawness that is life. The pimples that we squeeze and arses that we scratch. This links me to you and bonds us as basic human beings. All these aspects are done for one main goal. That is to gain an audience's trust. The words we use are vital to gain that trust and this throws a spear into the Media and how they write about the world and spin words on their head to the point of making "the word" redundant. I think this is so frightening and the phrase: "Hearts and Minds"..."Winning the War" becomes empty. The hearts of others are priceless and the minds precious....but if the Media continue as they are, we will end up with neither. To win the "Peace" is an extraordinary phrase. Liar..liar..pants of fire...this is a spin on War. Peace can not be achieved by bulling another into submission with your might or your nuclear capability. No "Peace" will ever be won when one party are faced with a barrel of a gun. We must be clear on what we are reading and how the writer or journalist is corrupting your perception of the wider world. This is the War we must fight. The War of the Word....the WWW World Word Won - These words we use are our salvation.

When all currencies around the world are crumbling we are reduced to nothing. When the Foolish Men Gamble with our lives, we are doomed. The Markets can not be realised and it places the world in CRISIS. Those that are effected are the weaker members of our world such as the average and below average African/Indian/South American/Asian/Chinese/American and European..the underclass of the planet is directly effected by the irresponsible Monsters of our world that have gambled our lives with their friends..and I point at RBS Chief Mr Bond and his team...who got away Scott Free; taking with them our Freedom, our way of life. They must be held to account for their actions but maybe this is not a time to place the blame, that is so infantile. This is a time to re-evaluate currency. This is what the Power fears most. If currency is eradicated then we go back to the days before of the tea-rooms of the Llodys Building and the London Stock Exchange; back to the days of a man's WORD was his BOND.

Power on Earth is in the wrong hands. It is in the hands of the LIARS. Their WORD is worthless...less than worthless. So we must rebuild from the beginning. And in the beginning was the WORD! In the end the Greatest currency is our WORD..in saying this you can gain all Trust. My word has value. I have value as I am an honest man. The letters are our coins, our loose change and with this spare change we can build up a world worth living in for all. And for the Greater GOOD go we. What the Internet has done or more to the point, what Facebook has done, is created a fare platform for all. The playing-fields are ours now, regardless of race, colour, class or tribe. We are all equal with our letters A to Z and our place on this earth should be judged on how we use our precious loose change in order to forge a resistance against the Power that B. 

As we allow ourselves to write, we will see that the spirit within us will guide us forward. It means a lot if you trusted me on this, because if you don't write on a regular basis you will never know what I am writing about...but if we give up we can begin again....If we say our nothing and type out our nothing, we can begin again..and in our writing out of our need to say nothing and feel we're nothing, so the world is created....Almost by accident the words will appear that echo amongst others who can read them and agree with them. When seen these letters act as a guide....like a Bible or a Q'uaran...but who should write this New Book? This new world Order.

We have a chance here on Facebook on the Internet, to all write this book together and agree with the words written and edit. How this is done I not quite sure....but this needs to be done by the AFRICANS FIRST. I put the AFRICAN FIRST over and above all else for it is those from the Dark Continent that have been effected most by the LIARS - It is the AFRICANS who should be the ones to have the first words in this our NEW BOOK. Stepping on the good foot; writing out the GOOD BOOK!
